Lean Methodology
Through a lot of experience, our industry has determined that the best way to build a successful product is to use a software development version of the Lean Methodology. When using Lean, we first define an MVP (Minimal Viable Product), a feature or product that meets your core goals. This is completed and released to the public for testing, so you can learn how real users respond. Based on what you learn, you iterate additional less critical features over time, or pivot if necessary. Compared to massive monolithic projects, Lean costs less, and it lets you get your investment out of inventory quicker, so you receive immediate value. And it also prevents expensive mistakes that inevitably occur with inaccurate planning, e.g. building unneeded features because you misunderstood user behavior.
An Agile Development Process
We use an Agile Methodology to manage large projects with a flexible scope and iterative process that keeps the Client involved at every stage. The Client defines high level goals and together we define “User Stories” and “Acceptance Criteria” for each feature. These stories are broken into smaller tasks that developers can complete in weekly sprints. The Client reviews these features as they are completed, which allows the Client to make critical adjustments to expectations as they become obvious. The client is able to modify the scope (if necessary) which ensures the final product meets the core goals of the project.

Planning
Initial Consultation
A Project Manager will learn about your needs and help you understand your options and suggest the right project structure that is right for you.
Research & Planning
During the research and planning project, Consultant will work with Client to define the broader project goals and provide a cost estimate.
User Stories
Consultant will work with Client to determine “User Stories” and “Acceptance Criteria” for each feature and workflow. These will be turned into project tasks.
Project Management
Your project manager will strive to make sure the developers complete your project to spec, on budget and on time.
Phase Two
Development
Agile Sprints
Your User Stories are broken into smaller tasks which are completed by developers in manageable sprints that Client can review. This process will continue until the project is completed.
Quality Control & Changes
During the research and planning project, Consultant will work with Client to define the broader project goals and provide a cost estimate.

Billing
Fixed rate projects will be billed as a 50% deposit and 50% on completion. Complex Agile projects will be billed hourly, on a monthly basis, with a 50% of estimate deposit or one month of expected fees (whichever is less).

Small Projects
Flat rate
To keep it simple we offer a fixed rate for smaller projects with an easily defined scope. Our industry standard rate of $150/hr is used to calculate projects costs based on estimate hours required. Our services include consulting, research, full stack programming, UI, and project management. We will define a clear scope, communicate with you throughout the process, and make sure your project is completed successfully.
Large Projects
Time & materials
For larger, complex projects (over $10,000+) we will give a general estimate during our initial conversations. But we will not do fixed rate projects at this scale because it is impossible to plan ahead for every eventuality or required feature. Many requirements simply will not become obvious until you begin building the features. Instead we use a Lean Methodology and Agile Development process to ensure a successful project outcome.
We require a deposit equal to 50% of the project or one month of planned development costs (whichever is less) and then each month additional invoices are generated for the work completed.
